Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cost of Liffey Electric Scheme.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state what is the actual cost to date of the works under the Liffey Reservoir Act, 1936 (viz., reservoir, Poulaphouca-Golden Falls works, transmission lines) estimated in 1936 at £760,000, segregating such costs as between (a) dam and civil construction, (b) roads, bridges, lands etc., (c) mechanical-electrical works and equipment; and, further, if he will give an estimate of what further expenditure, if any, will have to be incurred in completing such works.

The actual cost to the 30th October, 1943, of the works at Poulaphouca under the Liffey Reservoir Act, 1936, is as follows:—

(a)Dam and civil construction

(b)Roads, bridges, lands, etc.

£435,152

(c)Mechanical and electrical equipment and works

The expenditure under (a) and (b) is now complete. It is estimated that a further £60,000 will be required to complete the cost of the mechanical and electrical works and equipment.
