Vol. 92 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dental Benefits under National Health Insurance Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he can state what is the present position with regard to dental benefits under the National Health Insurance Scheme and whether provision of those benefits will soon be resumed.

Dental benefit under the National Health Insurance Society's Additional Benefits Scheme was suspended on the 20th August, 1943, as the Society's commitments in connection with this benefit had exhausted the money available in the current year.

The provision of dental benefit will be resumed on the 1st of January next when money for dental benefit will again become available. In the meantime, the provision of treatment is being continued where claims were authorised before 20th August, 1943.
