Vol. 92 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Release of Internees.

asked the Minister for Justice whether, in view of the near approach of Christmas, he will review in a sympathetic manner the situation of the persons interned without being charged or tried, with a view to their release during this time of peace and goodwill.

The cases of persons under detention are constantly under review, and whenever I am satisfied that any individual can be released without prejudicing the safety of the State, I make an order for his release. I cannot allow any consideration other than the interests of the public safety to determine my decision.

Hear, hear.
