Vol. 92 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Timber for House-Building.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will indicate what steps are being taken to secure that an adequate supply of timber for house-building will be made available from timber-exporting countries immediately after the war.

The post-war position in regard to the importation and distribution of timber has been discussed with representatives of the timber importers' associations. The Deputy will appreciate that it is not at present practicable to bring the matter further than the consideration of the internal arrangements, which will ensure that full advantage will be taken of whatever opportunities may offer of obtaining supplies from overseas in the conditions obtaining at the conclusion of hostilities.
