Vol. 92 No. 12

Committee on Finance. - Vote 42—General Register Office.

I move:—

That a supplementary sum not exceeding £144 be granted to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending 31st March, 1944, for the Salaries and Expenses of the Office of the Registrar-General of Births, etc. (7 & 8 Vict., c. 81, sec. 54; 26 Vict., c. 11, sec. 9 and c. 27; 26 & 27 Vict., c. 52, sec. 11, and c. 90, sec. 20; 42 & 43 Vict., c. 70; and 43 & 44 Vict., c. 13).

This Supplementary Estimate is necessary to meet the cost of extra emergency bonus payable to certain civil servants as from the 1st January, 1944. Travelling expenses of registrars are higher than was estimated and there are increased payments to superintending registrars owing to the increase in the number of births and marriages registered.

Vote put and agreed to.
