Vol. 92 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Grants to Quarry Owners.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state if any grants were approved of by his Department to quarry-owners in (a) Leix, (b) Offaly, and (c) Kildare, and also the total amounts for each county.

During the past ten years, grants have been approved from the Employment Assistance Fund to assist mineral exploration and development in Leix and Offaly. The total amounts are: Leix, £200; Offaly, £300. No grant was given in County Kildare.

Could the Minister say if any grant was applied for in the vicinity of Athy, County Kildare?

That is a separate question. I am certain a large number of grants were applied for which were not granted.
