Vol. 92 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Reconditioning of Drainage Equipment.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state what precise machinery and equipment suitable for drainage has been reconditioned since 1940; further, if he will state the cost of such reconditioning and the Vote or Votes from which such cost was defrayed.

Since April, 1940, nine drag-line excavators have been reconditioned, and the reconditioning of three further excavators is in hands. Various pumps, air-compressors, concrete mixers and miscellaneous equipment have also been reconditioned. The cost of reconditioning was approximately £10,500, which was defrayed out of the Vote for Public Works and Buildings.

Is that work done by the engineering staff of the Board of Works, or is it done by contract— given out to independent firms?

It is done by a special staff of the Board of Works.

Where is the work done?

Dun Laoghaire.
