Vol. 92 No. 17

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cow Park for County Westmeath Workers.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that workers in the Lacken, Multyfarnham, area of County Westmeath cannot get grass for their cows, and if he will take steps to acquire the untenanted lands in the vicinity as a cow park for those workers until the lands are divided amongst them so as to assure to them a supply of milk, butter and manure, and obviate the necessity of having to dispose of their cows at such a critical time as the present.

The Land Commission are unable to identify the untenanted lands referred to by the Deputy from the particulars furnished. During the continuance of the present emergency conditions the Land Commission are not in a position to open up such new proceedings for acquisition as the question suggests.
