Vol. 92 No. 18

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Glengariff Sportsfield.

asked the Minister for Finance if a grant is being made available for the completion of the sportsfield at Glengariff, Bantry; if so, if he will state from what source labour is to be recruited for same and what the conditions of employment are; also what powers or duties are delegated to the local sportsfield committee with regard to this work.

A grant from employment schemes moneys has been made to the sportsfield committee towards the cost of completing their grounds. It is subject to (1) the recruitment of unemployed workers from the neighbourhood through the employment exchange, and the other conditions of employment which apply to employment schemes generally, and (2) the sportsfield when completed being held for the benefit of the public of the locality.

The committee are the principals in the matter and apart from the conditions referred to above no question arises of the delegation of powers or duties to them.
