Vol. 93 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Provision of Dispensary.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware of the need of a dispensary in the Larkhill-Ellenfield district of Drumcondra, and if he will consult with the local authority with a view to the early provision of a dispensary and child welfare clinic in the district.

As regards the first part of the question, representations were received in my Department in March, 1940, regarding the need for a dispensary in the Ellenfield district. The views of the Dublin Board of Assistance were then sought and they obtained a special report from the medical officer for the area. The board of assistance after considering the evidence at the time came to the conclusion that there was no urgent need for a dispensary in the Ellenfield area.

As regards the latter part of the question, I understand that the commissioners for the board of assistance are now investigating the matter further.
