Vol. 93 No. 3

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Balbriggan Schools Free Meal Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware that the schools free meal scheme in Balbriggan is held up at the present time as a result of delay on the part of the Department of Supplies in issuing a permit for one stone of sugar per week during the winter months; if he is aware that the prescribed meal is in accordance with the instructions of the county medical officer of health and, in view of this, if he will take steps to have the issue of the required permit expedited.

I have had no representations on the matter from the local authority since December last, when my Department outlined the procedure to be followed by the local authority in initiating the school meals scheme.
