Vol. 93 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Collector of Taxes (Naas).

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the previous qualifications on foot of which the present collector of taxes at Naas, County Kildare, was considered suitable for appointment.

Mr. H.F. Ward was examined by a Departmental selection board in August, 1943, with 12 other candidates for the post of collector of taxes for the Naas district. The interviews were preceded by written tests and Mr. Ward was found to be the most suitable candidate for the post. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Ward had been employed, inter alia, as a clerk in a solicitor's office, as assistant to the clerk of a poor law union, as rate collector, and in a subordinate post in the Office of the Revenue Commissioners.
