Vol. 93 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Double Summer Time Proposal.

asked the Minister for Justice whether, owing to the shortage of supplies for both lighting and heating, he will consider the adoption of double summer time.

The Government considered this question recently but they decided not to adopt double summer time.

The saving of fuel which would result from the adoption of double summer-time would not be very great and the Government came to the conclusion that the disadvantages which would arise would outweigh the advantage of the saving of fuel. It should be remembered that our time is already from one hour and 25 minutes to one hour and 40 minutes in advance of solar time.
