Vol. 93 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Resale of Tractors.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if it is a fact that at least one tractor allocated last year in Roscommon has been sold this spring by the person to whom it was given, and if he will state what steps he intends to take to prevent the resale of imported tractors, reapers and binders and threshing mills which have been placed in the hands of selected custodians by his Department.

I am not aware that any tractor allocated by my Department in County Roscommon has been irregularly sold. The Deputy is no doubt aware that under the Emergency Powers (Acquisition and Disposal of Agricultural Machinery) Order, 1943, made by me on the 19th June, 1943, (Statutory Rules and Orders No. 235 of 1943) no person shall, save under and in accordance with a permit under the Order, sell or purchase any scheduled agricultural machinery. One application for such a permit has been received from County Roscommon.
