Vol. 93 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Emergency Powers (No. 289) Order.

asked the Minister for Justice whether his attention has been drawn to the wording of the advertisement published in the three daily newspapers on the 25th August, 1943, which purported to give notice of the effect of Emergency Powers (No. 289) Order, 1943; whether such wording was misleading in that it suggested that a licensed wheat merchant could employ any lorry for the carriage of wheat purchased by him; and, whether, in view thereof, he will consider the remission of all penalties imposed for a breach of such Order where the breach was committed bona fide in ignorance of the true interpretation of the Order.

Mr. Boland

I have not seen the advertisement, but I suggest that if the Deputy wishes to question its correctness he should take the matter up with the Minister responsible for the appropriate Department. If a petition is submitted to me in any particular case I shall deal with it in the usual way, taking every relevant consideration into account.
