Vol. 93 No. 12

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Supplies of Paris Green.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if, in view of the danger, particularly to winter wheat, of attacks by the leather jacket grub and the absence at present of supplies of Paris Green, he will secure either that supplies of Paris Green become available for next season or that a suitable substitute for this preparation be placed on the market.

Efforts have been made recently with a view to replenishing stocks of Paris Green, but new supplies have not yet arrived. It is also difficult to obtain supplies of a suitable substitute. Heavy rolling is of considerable assistance in preventing damage to grain crops by wire worm and leather jacket grub, and is the most practicable measure to adopt.
