Vol. 93 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Bog Road.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he is aware of the hardships and difficulties experienced by some 50 holders of turf bogs at the Powerscourt mountain area, County Dublin (map reference "P") owing to the long distance that turf has to be wheel-barrowed from the bog to the nearest road for loading—approximately 300-500 yards; that the journey is very laborious and wasteful of time; and if he will consider the desirability of making a road, for which there is a suitable lay-out, to join the county boundary road which runs from the Military-Glencree road.

Roadmaking in the area concerned is being pushed on as rapidly as possible having regard to the labour available, and it is hoped that by the end of the turf cutting season, a road will have been completed as far as the outside boundary of the area of Powerscourt Mountain recently taken over for turf production by private cutters from Dublin City.
