Vol. 93 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Resignation of Director.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the circumstances regarding the resignation of Mr. Seán Ó hUadhaigh from the board of directors of Aer Lingus Teo.; if he did so on his own volition; and, if not, if he will state who suggested that he should do so; and if any representations were made to his Department regarding the holding of this office by Mr. Ó hUadhaigh.

Mr. Ó hUadhaigh tendered his resignation from the board of Aer Lingus Teoranta in circumstances arising out of his other interests which appeared to make his continued membership of the board detrimental to the interests of the company. In accepting his resignation with regret, I expressed the hope that it would not be long before circumstances would permit of his resumption of this directorship. In the meantime the vacancy has not been filled.

Could the Minister say if he has received representations from any foreign Power in connection with the gentleman to whom I have referred, prior to his resignation?

I received no representations.
