Vol. 94 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Long-term Contracts for Sale of Agricultural Products.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he has entered into any negotiations with the British Government for long-term contracts for the sale of beef, mutton, butter and eggs during the post-war period.

The conditions on which agricultural produce is sold to the Ministry of Food are under constant review, but I am not in a position to indicate whether long-term contracts may be negotiated for the post-war period.

Is the Minister aware that the Governments of Australia, New Zealand and Canada have just completed long-term contracts with the British Government, and does he not think it would be good for Éire to be represented in this market after the war?

Long-term contracts are not quite so simple as the Deputy might make them out to be.
