Vol. 94 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Treatment of Tuberculosis.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether in view of the vital need for preventing the spread of tuberculosis, he will provide allowances for persons suffering from the disease who cease remunerative employment to undergo approved treatment, either in an institution or in their own homes, and also provide allowances for the dependents of such persons on the lines of the scheme about to be put in force in Northern Ireland.

Any measures on the lines the Deputy suggests would be a charge on local bodies in the first place as they are responsible for the present arrangements for the treatment of tuberculosis. One half of the cost of approved schemes is met out of the Exchequer.
