Vol. 94 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Supplies for Bee-Keepers.

asked the Minister for Supplies whether he can secure supplies of sections and foundations for bee-hives in view of the acute supply difficulties which confront bee-keepers at the present time.

Foundation wax is at present being manufactured in this country from imported beeswax, and bee-keepers should have no difficulty in securing reasonable supplies through the normal channels.

In regard to bee-hive sections, shipping space was granted by my Department at the end of 1943 for a considerable quantity, which has since been imported. Permits were also granted in a number of cases authorising the purchase of timber for the manufacture of sections.

I am prepared to consider favourably further applications for shipping space for beeswax and sections.
