Vol. 94 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Supplies of Nitrogenous Manure.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether supplies of nitrogenous manure have been made available for wheat growing counties, and, if so, why no supply has been made available for County Monaghan.

Very limited quantities of a nitrogenous fertiliser known as "nitrate of ammonia 15½ per cent." were distributed this season for the growing of wheat.

Owing to the quantity available being so limited it was found necessary to reserve it for those districts in which the area under wheat in 1944 is one-tenth of the arable land. As the wheat quota in County Monaghan is only one-twenty-fifth of the arable land supplies of the fertiliser referred to were not distributed in that county.
