Vol. 94 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Publication of Pamphlet.

asked the Minister for the Co-ordination of Defensive Measures whether he is aware that a pamphlet entitled "The Resurrection of Portugal" (in Irish and in English), submitted by Ailtirí na hAiséirghe, has been refused permission for publication on three separate occasions, viz., 4th December, 1943; 29th January, 1944, and 1st instant; and if he will indicate on what grounds permission has been withheld, particularly in view of the fact that a lengthy contribution of a similar nature entitled "Corporativism in Portugal Now" was allowed publication in the March issue of the Irish Monthly.

The answer to the Deputy's question is in the affirmative. The pamphlet in question, to say the least of it, adds nothing to the books and pamphlets already freely in circulation here about the Portuguese system of Government and the Portuguese Prime Minister, which were published with his authority; but it was written in a manner which was bound to lead to a controversy involving us in the propaganda section of the was if published here at the present time.
