Vol. 95 No. 8

Ceisteanna. — Questions. Oral Answers. - Offaly Drainage Rates.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will consider the grievances of the farmers in Shinrone, Brosna and Kilcormac areas, County Offaly, who are compelled to pay a heavy drainage rate on lands imposed by the Ballinacarrig District Drainage Board and the Parsonstown River Drainage Board; if he is aware that the maintenance work carried out on the local rivers does not affect several farmers who are requested to pay such rate; and if he will consider the abolition of Ballinacarrig and Parsonstown Drainage Boards and the spreading of the rates of such boards as a county-at-large charge in accordance with local wishes.

I would refer the Deputy to Part III of the Arterial Drainage Bill at present before the Dáil.
