Vol. 95 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Veterinary Appointment.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the reason for the prolonged delay in filling the post of veterinary surgeon in Dunmanway, County Cork; and if he will state when the appointment will be made.

There is no vacancy at present in the former Dunmanway rural district for a veterinary inspector for public health duties.

There is a vacancy.

I am not aware of any recent vacancy.

The Parliamentary Secretary must be out of touch with his Department.

The Deputy might be out of touch with his constituents.

I am not. The vacancy has existed for a number of years and the matter was before the Local Appointments Commission within the last two or three months.

No, the Deputy is entirely misinformed.
