Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Artificial Manures.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state for the year 1944 (a) the total quantity of phosphatic manures supplied to farmers and (b) the average percentage of soluble phosphate.

A statement giving the information sought will be printed in the Official Report.

The following is the statement:—

According to information supplied by the manufacturers the total quantity of phosphatic manures supplied to farmers in 1944 was: (a) 30 per cent. superphosphate, 30,338 tons; (b) 1943 compound fertiliser, 18,930 tons; (c) 1943 potato fertiliser, 4,223 tons. The average percentage of soluble phosphate was: (a) 30 per cent. water soluble; (b) 20 per cent. water soluble, 2 per cent. citric soluble; (c) 14 per cent. water soluble, 2 per cent. citric soluble.
