Vol. 96 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tipperary Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what is the position with regard to the Griffin Estate, Cashel, County Tipperary; if the Land Commission has power to take it over at the present moment; and, if so, if he will ensure that it is acquired and divided amongst the landless men of the district.

The Land Commission have instituted proceedings for the acquisition of the lands of Knockroe and for the resumption of the lands of Farranamanagh in occupation of the representatives of George Griffin, deceased. An objection against acquisition and a petition against resumption have been lodged by the owners, and at a hearing of the Land Commissioners on the 7th of February, 1945, the objection was disallowed and the petition refused. Proceedings for acquisition and resumption of the lands will now proceed in the normal course.
