Vol. 96 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - The National Health Insurance Committee.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state if, in view of the terms of his speech to members of a Fianna Fáil cumann, it is his intention to abolish the National Health Insurance Committee as at present constituted; and, if so, if he will state what he proposes to substitute for it.

What I said on the occasion referred to was clear and explicit and left no grounds for any misunderstanding of the matter generally or for the particular suggestion contained in the first part of the Deputy's question. The second part of the question does not, therefore, arise.

Is the Minister in a position to say whether the proposals put forward by Most Rev. Dr. Dignan have been considered by the Government or can he make any statement on the matter?

That is a separate question.
