Vol. 96 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tea Ration.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he is aware that Great Britain has completed negotiations for the purchase from India, Ceylon and East Africa of their total exportable surplus of tea, which is to be allocated by the Combined Food Board among the allied nations and neutral countries; and, if so, if he will state if the allocation to this country will be sufficient to give a ration of two ounces per person as in England, or if it will mean any increase in the existing ration.

I have no official knowledge of the arrangements to which the Deputy refers, but I have no reason to anticipate that an increased allocation of tea will be made available to this country.
