Vol. 96 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Postal Facilities in County Dublin.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that the morning postal delivery in Baldoyle is very late; and, if so, if he will have the matter investigated with a view to ensuring that the delivery is carried out earlier; and, further, if he is prepared to have a second delivery in the evening in the Baldoyle area.

Correspondence is delivered in the Baldoyle area about 9 a.m. at present, but arrangements are being made which it is hoped will enable delivery to be effected about 15 minutes earlier. I can hold out no hope of any further improvement in present circumstances.

The daily average volume of correspondence available for an evening delivery at Baldoyle is not sufficient to justify the not inconsiderable expense which a second delivery would involve.

Will the Minister say why correspondence cannot be delivered as early in Rathmines as in Baldoyle?

That is another question.

Rathmines is a lot nearer to the G.P.O. than Baldoyle.

The Deputy's supplementary stumps me.
