Vol. 96 No. 20

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Abatement of Service Pensions.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is yet in a position to state whether it is proposed to amend the abatement clauses in the Military Service Pensions Acts, 1924 and 1934, under which deductions are made from pensions in respect of persons who are in the employment of the State and public bodies.

I hope to have a decision reached in regard to this matter at an early date.

There is a very familiar ring about that reply. The Minister will recollect that he said the same about two months ago. Will he indicate now when this early date is likely to be reached?

I hope, in the course of two or three weeks.

That is an improvement.
