Vol. 96 No. 20

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Supplies of Timber.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if his attention has been directed to reports indicating that of the timber exporting countries only Sweden will be in a position to resume timber exports as soon as shipping becomes available, and to other reports stating that the British Government have entered into arrangements with Sweden for the purchase of practically the whole timber reserves available in that country for export; and if, in view of such reports, he will indicate to what extent timber will be obtainable by this country after the termination of hostilities for the carrying out of the projected building plans set out in the White Paper issued by his Department.

The matter of post-war timber supplies is at present having active consideration, but I am not in a position to make a statement.
