Vol. 97 No. 12

Emergency Powers (Continuance and Amendment) Bill, 1945—First Stage.

Leave granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to extend, for the purpose of securing the public safety and the preservation of the State in time of war, the period during which the Emergency Powers Act, 1939, shall remain in force, and to amend the said Act for the purpose aforesaid.—(The Taoiseach.)
Second Stage ordered provisionally for Wednesday, 27th June.

Can the Taoiseach say when the Bill will be circulated?

I would say within a couple of days.

Unless the Bill is circulated, say, by the end of the week, I should like to take exception to the Bill being taken this day week. We should like to have the Bill in our hands for a week, if possible, before it is taken.

I shall try to have it before the end of the week, and if not, we can postpone it.
