Vol. 98 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Timber Supplies.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will indicate what progress has been made towards securing a supply of timber for the building industry.

The supply position in regard to imported timber continues to be exceedingly difficult, but limited quantities are expected from Sweden and Canada within the next few months.

As regards supplies of native timber, estate owners have been asked to make special efforts to place the largest possible quantity of building timber on the market and the response to this appeal so far has not been unsatisfactory.
