asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state for each of the years ended 31st March, 1941-45, inclusive, the amount, if any, paid from the Central Fund to the County Council of (i) North Tipperary and (ii) South Tipperary, by way of contribution to the cost of (a) turf production or (b) payment of interest on loans in respect of turf production.

No payments are made directly to county councils from the Central Fund as contributions towards the cost of turf production or the payment of interest on turf production overdrafts. Messrs. Fuel Importers, Limited, recoup to county councils the full ascertained production cost and haulage cost (inclusive of overdraft interest) of turf purchased by them for use in the non-turf areas. Government Departments also recoup to county councils the full cost of any turf purchased by them.

The following sums have been paid by way of bog development grant to facilitate turf production:—
