Vol. 98 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Waterford Holding.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state how many applications were received by the Land Commission for the holding at Glenawillin on the Maxwell Estate at Moonhill, Tallow, County Waterford, and when it is proposed to appoint a tenant for this holding; and further why this holding was let for grazing this year while many landless men and local workers were anxious to get portions of this holding for wheat, oats and sugar-beet.

The Land Commission have received fifteen applications for the holding in question or for portions of it. It is not at present possible to say when an allottee or allottees will be selected, but the matter will be expedited as much as possible.

The arable portion of the holding had been tilled for some years and, in view of the condition of the land, it was considered advisable to let the holding for grazing this year.
