Vol. 99 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Durrow Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that the Hon. Mrs. M.F. White, Knockatrina, Durrow, Leix, has offered her estate to the Land Commission for division amongst the local smallholders, Old I.R.A. men, and suitable landless men in the area; if he will ask the Land Commission to have the lands inspected and reported on at an early date in view of the local demand for land; and if he will cause the lands to be listed for division.

The Land Commission recently received an offer from the Hon. Mrs. White, Knockatrina, Durrow, of lands for division. Owing to the restrictions imposed by emergency conditions they are not at present in a position to take any action in the matter.

Would it be possible for the Minister to make a request to the Land Commission to have the offer of Mrs. White filed for attention in the event of the Land Commission resuming activities in connection with land division?

The matter will be considered in due course.
