Vol. 99 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price of Seed Wheat.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the price to be paid by seed merchants for the produce of wheat, suitable for seed, grown from seed supplied by pedigree seed producers.

The price at which produce of the 1945 wheat crop may be purchased from growers by holders of seed wheat assemblers' permits, for sale as seed, has not yet been determined.

It is not proposed to fix a special price for the purchase from growers of the produce of pedigree seed wheat which is being distributed commercially by Pedigree Seed Growers, Ltd., during the current cereal year. The intention is to make a provision in respect of wheat suitable for seed purposes, similar to that contained in Article 23 of the Emergency Powers (Cereals) Order, 1945.

Can the Minister say when he will be able to fix the price?

Not for some months yet.
