Vol. 99 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - C.I.E. Superannuation Fund.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is in a position to state when the new superannuation fund in respect of that section of the staff of Córas Iompair Éireann at present in membership of the Railway Clearing System Superannuation Fund, will be brought into operation.

I am unable to say when the new superannuation fund in respect of that section of the staff of Córas Iompair Éireann at present in membership of the Railway Clearing System Superannuation Fund will be brought into operation. I am informed that legislation must be promoted in Great Britain before the transfer of the members and assets from the fund to a new association can be effected and that this may involve some delay.

Mr. O'Sullivan

Would the Minister say if an Act of this House will be necessary also to operate the proposed fund?

I cannot say. Different views are held on that aspect of the question. It is probable that the provisions of the Transport Act of 1944 would be adequate and that the new arrangement would be implemented here without additional legislation.
