Vol. 99 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Control of Fish Prices.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether he has yet reached a decision on the representations made to him recently requesting the removal of the controls on the price of fish; and, if so, what his decision is.

I am aware of the representations made on behalf of east coast fishermen requesting removal of the control on the price of fish. I am satisfied that removal of control would not yet be justified.

Is it definite that the Minister does not intend to remove the control on the price of fish?

It is intended to maintain the control of prices.

Therefore, the intention of the Minister to make fish available for poor people and working-class people will be defeated. There is plenty of fish in the Dublin hotels, because it is black-marketed.

The Deputy is making a speech.
