Vol. 99 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Extradition Arrangements.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if he will give a list of the countries with which Éire has entered into extradition treaties or arrangements for the surrender of persons alleged to be guilty of criminal offences; if he will state if such treaties are ever sought to be made operative in the cases of persons who are considered here to be refugees from political ill-treatment and persecution; and if he will make a statement on this aspect of the matter.

Pending the enactment of appropriate legislation by the Oireachtas, no extradition treaties or arrangements have been concluded with other states. No attempt has been made, therefore, at any time to make operative any such treaties or such arrangements in regard to the description of persons referred to by the Deputy.
