Written Answers. - Labourers' Cottages.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state in respect of each administrative county and of the State (a) the total number of labourers cottages erected up to 30th September, 1945, or the latest date for which the figures are available; (b) the number of such cottages provided under loans sanctioned before 31st March, 1922; (c) number of cottages in respect of which applications for purchase were made prior to 30th September, 1945, or the latest date for which the figures are available; (d) the number vested in occupiers on 30th September, 1945; and (e) whether he will further state, in each case, the proportion of the applications for purchase which had reference to cottages erected prior to 31st March, 1922.

The information in relation to headings (a) to (d) is set out in the accompanying table. Particulars are not available in my Department as to the proportion of applications for purchase which had reference to cottages erected prior to 31st March, 1922.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state in respect of each administrative county of the State— (a) the total number of labourers' cottages provided up to March 31st, 1945, (or the latest date for which figures are available); (b) the number of such cottages occupied as at March 31st, 1945; (c) the average rental, exclusive of rates, of the cottages occupied; (d) the number of cottages in respect of which arrears of rent were outstanding as at March 31st, 1945 (or the latest date for which the figures are available) and the total amount of such arrears; and (e) the number of cottages repaired and the expenditure on such repairs in each of the years 1943-4, 1944-5, and 1945-6.
