Vol. 99 No. 19

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Winter Potato Prices.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether Emergency Powers (Potatoes) (Maximum Prices) Order, 1946, applies to winter potatoes lifted in the early months of the present year; and, if so, whether in view of the high cost of producing such winter potatoes with low yields to the producers, he will exclude them from the terms of the Order.

The potatoes referred to by the Deputy come within the scope of the Emergency Powers (Potatoes) (Maximum Prices) Order, 1946. I do not consider that exclusion of such potatoes from the scope of this Order would be justified.
