Vol. 99 No. 19

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Workmen's Compensation: Supplementary Payments.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state what steps it is proposed to take, if and when the Emergency Powers Act lapses, to secure the continuance of the supplementary payment made under that Act as an addition to the sum of weekly compensation payable under the Workmen's Compensation Act, 1934.

Legislation will be introduced to provide, inter alia, for the continuance for a further period of Emergency Powers (No. 274) Order which provides for a supplementary payment of workmen's compensation.

It is intended that before the expiration of the Order, as extended by the proposed legislation, the whole question will be reviewed in the light of the general circumstances then prevailing.

Does the reference to a review of the whole question mean a review of the payment of workmen's compensation in the light of emergency bonus or a review of the whole question of workmen's compensation? It is not quite clear from the reply.

I presume a review of the whole question of workmen's compensation.
