Vol. 100 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Building Societies' Interest Rates.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he proposes to introduce legislation to amend the Building Societies Act, 1894, so as to enable him to have the fullest investigation made into the financial working of building societies, with a view to having the present exorbitant rates of interest on loans reduced to a more reasonable figure, especially having regard to the price at which money can now be obtained in the open market.

It is not proposed to introduce legislation to amend the Building Societies Act, 1894, on the lines suggested by the Deputy.
