Vol. 100 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Nurses' Pension Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state whether it is proposed to meet the need for a nurses' pension scheme at an early date; and if the proposals will include provisions for midwives.

Since June, 1938, the sum of £769 17s. 6d. has been made available to the Irish Nurses' Organisation from Sweepstakes funds to enable the organisation to collect statistical information from its members. Certain information was furnished by the Irish Nurses' Organisation to the Hospitals Commission in March, 1945, for consideration and report. The examination of the position by the Hospitals Commission has not yet been completed.
