Vol. 101 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Appointment of Veterinary Surgeon in Dunmanway.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state when it is proposed to fill permanently the vacancy for a veterinary surgeon in Dunmanway, County Cork.

The reorganisation of local veterinary services on the lines recommended by the Committee of Inquiry on Post-emergency Agricultural Policy is under consideration and the filling permanently of vacancies for veterinary surgeons in a number of districts, including Dunmanway, has been deferred for the time being. The proposed reorganisation is a difficult and complicated matter and may take some considerable time to effect, but it will be proceeded with as expeditiously as possible.
