It is the intention of Córas Iompair Éireann to extend the Ballina-Belmullet omnibus service to Blacksod as soon as the bridge at Belmullet has been repaired. I am advised that the roads to Carratigue and Geesala are unsuitable for omnibus traffic.
asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state when Córas Iompair Éireann propose to operate a bus service which will serve Dugort Hotel, Dugort and Valley, also Bunnacurry; and if he is aware that there is need for a service in this thickly populated area from which large numbers travel to England each year.
I understand that Córas Iompair Éireann are unable to extend their existing bus services in the Achill area as the roads in question cannot be approved for omnibus traffic.
