Vol. 101 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Belmullet Sewerage Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state when the sewerage and waterworks schemes will be put into operation in Belmullet; if he is aware that the sewerage system in Belmullet is in a very bad condition; and if he will take steps to see that the new schemes are put into operation without delay.

The original scheme for a water supply for Belmullet could not be carried out owing to difficulties in procuring materials during the emergency. This scheme has since it was first made been improved in a number of details, in particular by an increase in the storage to be provided. The contract documents are at present being revised by the local authority. A sewerage scheme cannot be undertaken until a piped water supply is available.
