Vol. 101 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dairy Disposal Company.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state whether the Dairy Disposal Company publish a balance sheet and details of their expenditure for each branch of their activities; and, if so, where such information is to be had.

A consolidated balance sheet of the Dairy Disposal Company, Limited, and associated companies is circulated annually to members of the Oireachtas and printed in the Reports of the Committee of Public Accounts. The individual balance sheets of the company's various branches are not published.

I never got it. Did the Minister say that copies are furnished annually to members of the Oireachtas?

Circulated annually to members of the Oireachtas and printed in the Report of the Public Accounts Committee.

As one member, I never in any year got a copy.

Did the Deputy not get the Report of the Committee of Public Accounts?

Does that mean that we cannot get information as to the profits of the various branches of the Dairy Disposal Company?

The total balance sheet is circulated.

I am asking for information about the different branches of the company's work. Is it possible to get copies?

The reports of the different branches are not published. As the Deputy knows, the Dairy Disposal Company is a company established for the disposal of certain businesses, creameries and so on and it would be inadvisable to publish details of each one individually.

Surely we are entitled to know what profit arises out of the working of the creameries as distinct from other branches.

The Deputy can put that question to the Minister for Agriculture.
